howto prvent MAC changing @ client side ?

Post by zaib »

Salam,

I am running internet cable.net in my area. I am restricting users mac adderss with ip binding. But the problem is smart users are copying working user mac and thus, gain access to the server.

My question is there any utility or software that can be installed on every Users end, and if the user changes his mac, he cannot gain access to server ? the application must be installed at user end in order to communicate wth the server, if the application isnt installed access should be blocked. is this possible?

there is no reasonable way to do what you want. just use pppoe or something similar for authentication.

Isn't it amazing how so many people can type "linuxpakistan.net" into their browsers but not "google.com"?

using pppoe server or http authentication along with squid will be a good idea for this.
