RTL8111/8168 NIc Driver & RHEL4

Post by sevensins »

AOA,
I have a system that has an RTL 8111/8168 gbps lan card. I have installed RHEL4 and the kernel doesnt have the driver for it. I have downloaded the driver, compiled it and is running...

Would like to know if I could inject the driver intyo the RHEL 4 source as the source resides on an NFS and all the clients wil be installing from there.

any help suggestions would be highly appreciated...
Regards,

AOA,

Dear,

Download the file http://www.crystalnetworks.org/realtek_r1000.tgz extract it by
tar xvzf realtek_r1000.tgz
then goto LAN folder and read the readme file.

I was also facing the same issue, and this worked out.

Hope it works for you.

If the URL is unreachable..try to open it after 2 hrs, as my UPS died few days back, i am still working to fix it.
Kind Regards

what do you mean by "source"? do you mean "installation packages"?

Isn't it amazing how so many people can type "linuxpakistan.net" into their browsers but not "google.com"?

I have inserted the .ko into the boot.iso and burnt it on a CD, when the system is booted from the CD for an NFs install, the driver for the lan card is present and is auto detected.

The problem is that the system is booted up via PXE, from where we select a distribution to install and the NFS kicks in.. I would like this driver to be in that RHEL4 source so it can detect the nic when installation begins
