tcl problem in amsn 0.83 (new)

Post by outstream »

Hi Guys

i downloaded new amsn version 0.83, For this version it was written on amsn.sourceforge.net that it works after 15th october too. i installed it successfully but now when i try to run it , it says it needs to have tsl to get connected. and it says my system lacks tsll. after this i downloaded the source for tls from tls.sf.net and installed it. but still its giving the same error. Has any one tried this new version and has any one tried connecting it using msn protocol 9?.

Thanks for ur precious time

Good Day
Testing?What's that? If it compiles, its good, if it boots up it is perfect.

Yes i am using it and it works fine with me. Do you have a tcl problem or tls problem? Your subject of the post stated that you have a problem in tcl, and your message contains summary about tls.

As far as my understanding of linux goes TLS stands for Transport Layer Security and is a protocol for delivering packets securely blah blah blah... while tcl is the scripting language in linux that i am a bit familiar with. so the conclusion is

tls= transport
tcl=scripting

can u kindly point out the exact error message it says and also which distribution are you running.

yaar the problem is, after putting my user name and password when i press ok to login, it gives me a dialogue box which tells me i have to download and install a module called TSL. at this time the option of linux-x86 installation is highlighted. when i press ok, nothing happens, it doesnt starts downloading anything, inface it give me an error screen saying "Cant Read "TOK" no such variable". and after this nothing happens.

I downloaded the tsl library and gave the path in preferences -> application. but still nothing happened. After that i download tsl in source form and tried to install it but it didnt get installed, cuz it fails to find a directory /usr/load/openssl.

Can u check in ur preferences -> application , in amsn that what path has it given there?. its very strange that nothing happens when i allow it to download and install tsl, itself.

There is another strange problem i am getting that nothing downloads when i use mozilla or konquoror. i am only able to download anything using galeon.

Thanks for ur precious time

Ok Guys i have got the solution myself..just posting it here incase if some one else comes across the same problem, they can get idea about how to solve it.

I downloaded tls llibraries manually from sourceforge.net. after this i extracted them to /home/amsn/plugins/ (this is the locaiton of amsn and /plugin directory on my machine). after extracting it became some thing like /home/amsn/plugins/tls1.4 .

the files in /tls1.4 looked like this

libtls.1.4.so

pkglindex.tsl

tls.tcl

okay after extracting, i restarted amsn and still it didnt work. this time it said "host unreacheable". Then i went to preferences -> application in amsn and gave the path of tsl libraries i.e /home/amsn/plugins/tls1.4. Then i restarted amsn again and it worked.

Now its working all fine and good
