This Antipoisoner is poisoning me.....

Assalamoalaikum Warahmatullah-e-Wabarakatuhu,

I'm new to linux and I've installed Ubuntu 8.10. When I use Windows XP, I use Anti Poisoner as recommended by my cable operator. Since, it doesn't support linux platform, therefore, I visited this forum and found a solution in the form of making a arp.static file and using the command: chmod +x /home/.../arp.static. Now the problem is that whenever I try to download any update, first it allows it to get downloaded but after some time it refuses to access the internet. Can someone please guide me?
