Creating Partitions in Ubuntu 10.04 LTS Server

Post by Misam Shah »

AOA All,

Hope you all doing great. :) Can any one of you help me in creating partitions in Ubuntu 10.04 Server?

What should be the ideal partition size for a Server side machine where users are logged in centrally to save their data on /home partition??

Thanks

there is no ideal size. if you have a 500gb drive (and i hope you use raid-1, at least), you could give the users 400gb and use the rest of the os + logs.

Isn't it amazing how so many people can type "linuxpakistan.net" into their browsers but not "google.com"?

Thanks, I couldn't explain better.

I am bit confused with other partition sizing like I used to create Swap Partition with 2 x Memory Size, 512MBs of Boot partition, and then for O/S and for users.

Should I follow the same pattern for Lucid Lynx??

you don't need a small filesystem for root.
