Inquiry for Incremental Backup

Postby sonn33 » Mon Apr 04, 2011 12:00 pm

Hi Guys,

I run Sunday Full backup using Incremental method Monday incremental backup "success" then all of the sudden your Tuesday incremental backup is failed. What happen to the rests like Monday-Wed-Thurs-Friday-Sat. Does it means that you will not able to restore the M-W-T-F-S? Thanks!

it depends on the failure. if the wednesday incremental backup includes all the data that was supposed to be backed on tuesday, then you should be okay. otherwise, no, any incrementals after the failed backup won't be restorable.

how do you do backups? i just use rsnapshot (runs on top of rsync). all backups after the first one are incremental but all restores from any incremental directory is the same as a full restore.

Isn't it amazing how so many people can type "linuxpakistan.net" into their browsers but not "google.com"?
