problem running kde after file system error check

Postby sakbar » Wed Oct 16, 2002 1:00 pm

After a power fluctuation, when prompted i fixed my file system errors.

Iam running a RH 7.2 with kernel 2.4.7
now the problem is that when i come to x windows & select the kde option it goes to next screen, i can only c the wallpaper & nothing else appears on the screen for a longtime but on the other side the gnome is working fine.

Any idea ! what is wrong !

Shakeel, boot into text mode (init level 3? on redhat). and do startx manually. Make sure you redirect the stdout and stderr from the invocation. It'll give you an idea abt what is failing. If some files are corrupted or missing, you can reinstall the rpms. rpm -vVa (?) will verify the complete installaiton
