playing videos of differenent file formats specially MP3 ones arent that simple in linux new versions.they 've removed some utilities in new versions.any wayz u can download the latest versionof media player from http://www.mplayerhq.hu

i think 1.0 is the latest out there, u can also download codecs and plugins from the same url
read the help files and try experimenting ,perhaps this is thebest way to learn linux.

to run mp3 files, u need a plugin for xmms. xmms is there installed in ur distro by default (assuming ur using red hat product).

Thanx alot for the link.its a 1 clik plugin i really needed to play MP3's in XMMS.
can any one please help me with the MPLayer 1.0pre3 step by step.
