should be either under /usr/bin/ or /usr/sbin/
but since both are on your path or defined for $PATH so you shouldnt have any problem accessing mplayer from anywhere

you can check the man pages to see the list of files for mplayer
To mess up a Linux box, you need to work at it; to mess up your Windows box, you just need to work on it, writes Scott Granneman.

make sure you had the rpm installed..

rpm -q mplayer to see if its installed..

type mplayer ( for console mode) or gmplayer (for gui mode) at console.
see if mplayer runs or not..if it doesnt run and its installed it will show an error and tell u the reason for the problem.so try running mplayer and gmplayer from console (terminal).
