i hope you do realize that fedora/fedora core is a linux distribution. there's no "linux" you can run.imjebran wrote:now please advise me what can i do for manage my cablenet server on linux or fedora core?
Watch out for the Manners Taliban!
Isn't it amazing how so many people can type "linuxpakistan.net" into their browsers but not "google.com"?

AOA,
Dear
I have uploaded few scripts for setting up Internet Gateway with MAC Address filtering and Bandwidth Shaping with DHCP Server at the following Link.
These scripts might help you out in setting up Internet Gateway.

Still if you need help then first you should USE the " SEARCH " option at the top-left hand side of the LP Forum. There are many topics which describe in details how to Setup Internet Gateway.

Hi Jibran,
Follow the steps what lambda and Mudasir told you, if you will follow those things that is enough for you. But comes with mind and note it down what services requried for you to convert from Windows to Linux so think accordingly like.
1. DHCP Server.
2. Squid Server [in Windows there is a software called ISA Server]
Do following steps if i am wrong pls mudasir do correct me.
1. Install a Linux on a some good machine having two network card with good hard-drive.
2. Note down your class of Network so assign ips accordingly.
3. If you are using DSL then you should do MASQUERADE or SNAT its up to you.
4. if you using Broad-Band that have directlry public ip address assigning so think accordingly about Net sharing.
I suggest you first you download fedora then i and other LP users will help out and will finish your problem of Netsharing.
Regards,
Noman Liaquat
